“We have been to Kuhio Shores #212 threee times and will be going a 4th time Nov 2010. The condo is absolutely beautiful. Betty and Bart the owners, are so easy to work with and really make our stay wonderful, lots of wonderful amenities in the condo. The ocean view is amazing. We love to sit out on the balcony in the morning and the afternoon and watch the turtles and surfers. Fun to spot whales and dolphins as well!  The location is perfect, lots of shopping and dining nearby. The new Kukuiula village is within walking distance. We so look forward to our trips to Kauai and can not imagine staying anywhere else but Kuhio Shores 212.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Smiths’ exceptional condo. This unit is very tastefully decorated and well-maintained. Absolutely delightful for a stay of any duration. We found #212 better equipped than any condo unit we’ve previously rented anywhere! It has all the kitchen implements one could desire, very nice tableware, even some staples (e.g. spices, sugar, etc.) for their guests. Beyond that, nice beach chairs and towels and paddleboards were among the items provided for your recreational pleasure.

The location is unbeatable! It is right on the water, with 180-degree unobstructed ocean view from the lanai, where you can relax with your morning coffee and evening cocktails, watching the surf roll in…complete with surfers, paddleboarders and racing outriggers. It is next door to the most romantic restaurant on Kauai (The Beach House), and lies between two nice snorkle bays.”

“I found Kuhio Shores on vrbo.com. After debating for months, my husband and I agreed on #212. I have been to the Big Island, Kauai and Maui before and we always stay in condos. This condo was the best of them all. The view was not partial- but a 100% ocean front view. You can watch the turtles from your lanai. On our first day there, we were so excited to see so many turtles and thought they probably are only here for the day. We were wrong, they are there EVERY day! The condo itself is beautifully decorated with modern decor. The location can’t be beat. You are near all of the good beaches and you are next door to the famous Beach House. The owners were a pleasure. At the time we booked our trip, Aloha Airlines went out of business. We had to re-book our flights and notify the owners that we would be a day late. Betty & Bart were so understanding and even refunded our one night stay with out us asking. I couldn’t have been more thankful for their kindness.”

“Our honeymoon on Kauai was wonderful and we truly enjoyed our stay at Unit 212 Kuhio Shores. The condo was beautifully decorated, spacious and in an incredible location. We enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, eating meals on the lanai that directly overlooks the water (excellent for watching sea turtles!) and exploring the rest of the island from this convenient location. Kuhio Shores condominiums is close to beautiful beaches, snorkeling sites and delicious restaurants. Our favorites were the Beach House (you can walk to it from the condo) and the Tide Pool restaurant at the Hyatt. We hope to return to paradise soon at Kuhio Shores!”

“We stayed at the Kuhio Shores Condo #212, September 22-29 this year. We were getting married on a secluded beach not even half a mile from the condos.

Our experience was wonderful. The Kuhio Shores is right on the ocean, best view I have ever had in my life! The crashing waves were the soundtrack for our stay. We could see large sea turtles just outside the condo building. And at the beach to the west of the building we saw a monk seal, stingrays and of course fish galore. Excellent snorkelling just a quick walk from our condo…unbelievable!

Our suite was gorgeous. All the amenities you could possibly need (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, TV wise.) Exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. Betty Smith, the owner was great to communicate with over email and everything went smoothly with our payment and getting our damage deposit back.

Koloa is a beautiful place to stay in, if you are looking for a relaxing holiday with not many tourists around. Not much nightlife but you are pretty much exhausted at 8 pm everynight- they call it Paradise Coma : ) We stayed in Honolulu the next week and we went through definite culture and crowd shock. We definitely longed to go back to Koloa and our Kuhio Shores Hideaway.  Highly Recommended.”

“We stayed at Kuhio Shores Unit #212, from Dec 8-10th for our honeymoon. The condo was amazing, it was decorated so perfectly. It had all the comforts of home and free internet connection. The view was amazing from the lanai. They were working on the outside of the property during the afternoon, but this didn’t affect our stay. The condo is in an excellent location and is an easy drive to everything. We will definitely be back”

“We stayed in Kuhio Shores Unit #212 for our Honeymoon Sept. 29-Oct 7, 2006. This unit was absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend it.

The View:
WOW, this view is amazing! You are only about 20 feet from the ocean. With all of the windows open, you hear the ocean waves crashing in 24/7. From the Lanai, you get a fabulous view of the sunset. You can also see sea turtles and surfers every day.

Inside:
The inside of the unit is beautiful, the owners have made renovations in the last couple of years and it shows. The furniture is all very nice and comfortable. Kitchen has granite counter tops, nice appliances and dishes. The bathroom is nice and the King bed is comfy. The unit has all of the amenities we would have wanted – TV, DVD player, high-speed internet, CD player and a few good Hawaiian CDs, full-size kitchen appliances, etc. They even have beach towels, mats, and boogie boards for you to use!

Property & Location:
Kuhio Shores property is nice, they have a lawn in front and great sunset views. The coast is mostly rocky, with a tiny beach next door (pretty pathetic, but if you want a beach you can drive 5 minutes to Poipu). I liked that the condo isn’t in the big hotel area of Poipu, where the Hyatt, Sheraton, etc are; this made it feel more isolated. Overall, I LOVED Kuhio Shores and would highly highly recommend it. However, if I was going back to Kauai, I would probably stay on the East /Northeast Shore – somewhere between Kapaa and Princeville. That seems like the best place to stay if you want to do a lot of exploring. Whenever we wanted to go up to the North Shore it was an hour drive, which got old after a while. On the plus side – Kuhio Shores is a lot closer to Waimea Canyon.

Note About Unit Owners:
The owners of this unit were awesome – very friendly and helpful. I’ve seen some of the other reviews of Kuhio Shores and I wanted to point out that all of the units are PRIVATELY OWNED. This means that each unit will be totally different (furniture, cleanliness, etc). If you see a negative review, remember that it applies only to the condo that that person stayed in. If you want a beautiful 1-bedroom condo in Kuhio Shores, choose #212 – you will not regret it!”

“We really want to thank you for the pleasure of staying in your condo #212 at Kuhio Shores. It was an experience of a lifetime. Your condo is just perfect and we couldn’t think of anywhere else that we would have rather stayed. Your serene colors throughout the condo and beautiful décor were absolutely perfect. The view was truly incredible. In fact, we wish we could have stayed there forever. We hope to return to gorgeous Kauai again someday and would love to stay in 212. We sure appreciate all your efforts in making it such a beautiful place to stay.”

“I prescribe that visiting Kauai’ s southern coast in the winter may be the “recharge-medicine” for anyone who resides in the Northeast. And please, do yourselves a favor, and try and book #212 at Kuhio Shores, an ocean front 1 bedroom condo extraordinaire. Following is my husband’s and my arrival experience:

The moment we entered the condo we experienced what I’d like to call a wonderful ‘aloha special-ness’ — a feeling we have rarely found on any of our other Hawaiian visits (we have made 15)! The sounds of the ocean waves, the breezes wafting from the lanai, the warmth of a home away from home, that is exquisitely appointed, and a stellar location on Kauai, our favorite Island! Give each other a gift of Kauai and do it at Kuhio Shores!!”

Reviews From VRBO.com

“Betty & Bart’s condo was the absolutely perfect spot for my husband and me to spend our honeymoon. Close proximity to the water was a priority for us as we started looking for a place to stay, and this Kuhio Shores property completely delivered. The temperatures were perfect… the screens were open and the gentle sound of the ocean filled the place for the 10 days of our stay. The view was very private so that we weren’t looking at any of our neighbors, and all we could see was ocean, sea turtles and the glorious sunrises from the lanai. It was quiet and private, two very high priorities for us after all of the excitement and socializing surrounding the wedding. It was the perfect size for us. As we looked at other properties initially, we saw some that looked nice but really were too big and would have cost more. I’ve also had the experience of renting a property by looking at pictures, trusting that they represent the space accurately, and then being disappointed. However, in this case the pictures are beautiful, and the place itself actually surpassed my expectations and delighted us completely. The rooms are all beautiful, the fixtures lovely and new, and clearly the place is clean and well-maintained. It just had a great feeling about it, which set the tone for our amazing trip. I know just from spending time there that Betty and Bart care about their Kauai home, and it was a great gift to spend our sacred honeymoon time there. We hope to come back again… the sooner the better!”

“Aloha Betty, We arrived home just a few hours ago, but I must write you before any more time elapses! After our usual lengthy flights we arrived at your Kauai home. Once there we just couldn’t spare our time to write! The moment we entered your condo we experienced what I’d like to call a wonderful ‘aloha special-ness’ — a feeling we have rarely found on any of our other Hawaiian visits! The sounds of the ocean waves, the breezes wafting from the lanai, the warmth of a home away from home, that is exquisitely appointed, and a stellar location on Kauai, our favorite Island! And thank you for your kindness — the Kendall Jackson Merlot was enjoyed with a steak cooked on the grill. I’m afraid you (212) have spoiled us — perhaps forever! Thank you for your tremendous contribution to our spectacular Hawaiian holiday!”

“Hi Betty, Thank you, thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful condo. We had the most amazing vacation. Kauai is beautiful and your condo was so perfect – we loved sitting outside and watching the waves roll in. What great snorkeling with all those turtles, I never imagined seeing so many each day! Thank you for the champagne to celebrate as well. Our trip was wonderful, we hope to return to your condo again in a couple years (I wish it could be sooner)- it was perfect for us!”
